[Following is a volunteer review of "JTs World" by E. Alan Fleischauer.]
JTs World by E. Alan Fleischauer is the fifth and final book in the JT Thomas Adventures saga. The events take place at a new amusement park located outside of Scottsdale, Arizona. However, it is not just any amusement park. It contains multiple innovations in terms of machinery. Among the main attractions are a bowling alley, an incredible theatre, many shops, carousels, and the most striking, the Ferris wheel. What could happen in a place as familiar and childish as that? Murder, for example.
In the prologue, the author narrates a grim scene. It describes a death, telling what that person thought before she died. Afterward, the consequences of what happened are known. The investigations, the interrogations, and all the stages come to tie the dots. Everybody wants to know what happened. After that episode, similar situations begin to occur that require the reader’s attention. Little by little, the secrets of JT and the amusement park begin to emerge.
One of the things I liked the most was that the book began with a high degree of activity. It is understandable since the book that closes the saga. Throughout the reading, I had the impression that the author passed on to me many strong emotions. After the initial murder, it was reported how this action affected the person in love with her. "We were in love" were the lover's words when he had the lifeless body in front. These are the kind of scenes that conveys a lot to readers. The fact that all of this has happened in an amusement park is a tricky concept to digest.
The only aspect I did not like so much was the number of characters. It can be taken against when it comes to reading. At certain moments, I lost the sequential thread when they changed characters. You must understand that at first is a bit complicated to differentiate each character. However, then you get used to it.
I would recommend this book to a teen or an adult audience. The language can be a little profane. It also contains sexual content and scenes with violence. My score is four out of four stars. It fulfilled its function as a narrative text. Despite the confusion with the characters, the fact that it is a well-written novel cannot be overstated. Its edition was acceptable. It is one of the few books that really keep you on the couch.
