[Following is a volunteer review of "Reconfigurement" by E. Alan Fleischauer.]
Reconfigurement is a non-fiction book by E. Alan Fleischauer. It is a guide to financial education and retirement planning. This book is an insightful read with extensive research that has been orchestrated to provide realistic and useful information, primarily aimed at retirees. The author extensively explains a variety of topics, including income protection, disability insurance policies, career assessments, retirement planning, life insurance, Social Security programs, and investments. The author has previous experience as an advisor in the finance industry, which assures the reader that they are in good hands.
One of my favorite aspects of the book is how the author provides useful advice on health insurance, investing, and specific financial actions and plans. Basically, knowledge that no one truly explains its just something one learns as you grow. It also doubles as a self-help book with assessments to help one get to know oneself better.
The book was straightforward and simple to understand; it is a quick read that can be completed in a single sitting. The writing and language used were approachable and engaging. The book's overall tone is friendly and inviting, and the amusing anecdote keeps readers interested. Laughing while learning is the best combination one could ask for.
The book is both eye-opening and thought-provoking. If I had to criticize it, I would say that the references were very American-centric. However, if this is overlooked, it ensures that readers will obtain much-needed knowledge.
I give the Reconfigurement book 4 out of 4 stars. It is educational, provides useful information, and provides relevant guidelines for future planning. I found no typos or grammatical errors in the book, so it appears to be exceptionally well edited. The book is marketed to people over the age of forty. However, as the author stated, "Reconfiguring Your Life at Any Stage and Planning Ahead," I personally recommend it to anyone interested in financial planning and early retirement. Overall, this book is a fantastic first step toward financial stability and early retirement.
