Review of Reconfigurement
For an ordinary man, finance is a formidable subject matter consisting of intricacies beyond the common understanding. A primary issue in finance is the notion of retirement planning. When one plans retirement, the mainstream tendency is to deal with it far into the future. The book Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer comes as a respite in this daunting field. In the book, the author efficiently deals with several technical issues. He unravels the monotony of the industry serving capitalist culture by breaking down the never-ending cycle of earning, spending, and saving. He is straightforward in reinforcing his one simple solution to the enigma surrounding retirement, which is to plan ahead. The book contains different chapters that cover various topics such as investment, assets, insurance, the reliability of social security, etc. They are explained briefly and practically with the help of specific illustrations and humorous anecdotes.
If finance made easy was a book, it would be this book. It elaborately deals with relevant issues to instill a basic understanding among the readers without letting them get distracted. The book is more like an intelligent conversation between an expert in the field and a layman layered with an occasional joke.
The aspects that I liked about this book are its simplicity and briefness. Most finance-related books tend to consist of long technical terms. They hardly concern themselves with increasing the awareness of the readers. However, this book keeps it short and to the point. This author keeps it extremely simple by reiterating his one mantra of planning ahead of time. Moreover, the author has explained intricate topics with simple examples and relatable stories. He has also inserted a lot of corny jokes that ensure the reader remains engaged despite the information overload. The author has also provided tips to begin the process of planning and finding reliable insurance and financial agents. I also appreciated the authenticity of the author. He has not pretended to be the ultimate expert on everything finance related and has honestly provided a list of other material one can rely on to learn further.
There are no aspects of the book that I found unappealing. I also appreciate the professional editing and title of the book. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It is an easy, effective, and fun read about finance.
I recommend this book to all earning an income or the newbies in this field. It is an informative read for professionals as well as freshers. It provides pertinent information regarding the correct way to ‘plan ahead’ from a young age. It is the book to read for those just beginning their financial planning or those looking to revamp it. It is a simple, short, and intriguing read which everyone would benefit from reading at least once.
