“There was nothing worse than the sight of a wild animal unnaturally caged.”

The book, Man Mission, is one that I think will benefit anyone who reads it. The author, Eytan Uliel, takes us along on his journey through life, allowing us to share his experiences, emotions and perspective through each of the challenges life throws at him. I found that, despite being a much younger man living a completely different life, I still ponder on the exact same questions in my heart as every other male character in this enlightening book. What defines a man? And am I living up to that definition?

Once a year, a group of four average Australian blokes subject themselves to blood, sweat and tears in some exotic location, in order to free themselves of the painfully boring reality of their everyday lives. The author shares with us the joy of pushing your body to its limit. Because when you are covered in sweat and dirt, depraved of oxygen, dehydrated, tired and aching all over, your perception of life suddenly becomes…simple. On a much less intricate level, Man Mission provides us with the entertainment and humor that can only be found in a group of friends as connected as this one.

The book was written in a fashion, which alternates between the "Man Mission" of each year and the significant events that took place in the life of our storyteller, during each respective year. In doing so, the author maintains the reader’s attention even during the more tedious parts. I particularly enjoyed the way in which the author made use of metaphors and subtle hints to draw me into forming my own conclusions about life, consequently increasing the power of the shared wisdom.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The book was exceptionally well edited and easy to read. The author’s attention to detail in his use of descriptive language has the reader feeling like an integral part of every adventure.
I would recommend this book to men of all ages, but I daresay many women might find the book to be very valuable in that it provides some elucidating perspective, essential to a successful marriage. Not to mention, a very in-depth tour of the inner workings of the male mind.

I think Man Mission should be a part of every man’s life, having witnessed the importance of proving yourself to be a man in the silliest way possible.
