[Following is a volunteer review of "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz.]
We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies is book one of a fantasy series that tells the story of a young man named Galen. Galen, who was rescued from his misery and suffering by his late uncle from the land of the Princes finds himself in Magnum Caelum of Voulhire to the entrustment of his late uncle's properties; a house, money, and a forge. With his kindness, innocence, and trustfulness which renders him vulnerable in a world where no one can be trusted, he sets out to uncover his full potential of being a blacksmith to help him run the business that his late uncle left behind for him.
We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is an interesting book that I admired so much because of the author's way of introducing the various characters. For instance, he made sure to introduce the various characters using different headings, for easy understanding of who the context was referring to.
I also liked the list of words and their meanings which he added at the end of the book. Going through this list gave me a clear and easy understanding of some unfamiliar terminologies used in the book, though it was a bit stressful going back and forth trying to understand the meanings of the terms. Apart from the terms which were explained, I also liked the clear language in which the book was written. It was all written interestingly and every plot relayed the message they were meant to relay without any cause for confusion.
I enjoyed how the book kept me in suspense but didn't like how just a few things were said about some characters, though it can be argued that more will be said about them in the subsequent books. It left me wondering how those characters fit into the book.
I rate this novel a four out of four stars because of how well it was edited. The vivid descriptions of scenes, events, and characters gave me a clear picture of what the writer was trying to portray, which all made the reading fun and exciting.
I recommend this book to people who enjoy reading fantasy fiction that involves magical powers. Young adults might also enjoy this book as it contains the use of some languages which they most definitely will not find offensive as compared to older people. It may also not be suitable for people who are uncomfortable with the slightest bit of gory details.
