Do you ever think about retirement and what it would be like for you? Does the thought scare you or give you chills? Do you imagine yourself as a senior travelling around the world and having the life you have always dreamt about? If your answer to all or some of the aforementioned questions is yes, then you need what is known as ‘reconfigurement’.

Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer is a book that opens the mind of the reader to different possibilities after retirement if one intends to make plans. While many might find topics about retirement and everything that comes with it daunting. The author of this book has simplified it in such a way that one breezes through it without knowing it.

Every chapter in this book was accompanied by inoffensive jokes, as the author dealt with topics such as trusts, mutual funds, budgeting, will and topics related to retirement and post-retirement. These are topics any layman can claim to know about, however, this book gives the pros and cons of each topic. Despite the detailed information included in this book, the author emphasized that one needs to still seek professional help where needed.

The first thing I noticed about this book is how conversational the author was in his style of writing. It felt like I was in the class of my favourite professor which made this book enjoyable. Another thing I liked so much about this book is the humour that was deliberately included in it. Just when the reader might start to feel overwhelmed with all the information shared in this book, the author throws in a joke that makes one laugh out loud, which I think would help the assimilation of anyone that decides to read this book.

I also appreciate the fact that this book was brief, yet it achieved the aim of educating the reader. I learnt so much from this book and I believe everyone who picks it up to read would also learn a lot from it.

There is absolutely nothing I dislike about this book because I had an amazing time reading it. The errors I noticed were very minimal, which I bet could go unnoticed by most readers. Nevertheless, I am almost certain that this book was professionally edited.

This book deserves nothing less than four out of four stars because it is educating, informative and entertaining at the same time. This book is well suited for every adult who is working and is looking forward to retiring well.
