This is a novel of friendship, adventure, and self-discovery. The story begins with two college friends dreaming up an adventure through exotic places and eating unconventional foods. That dream became Man Mission, an annual activity involving going to different places and doing incredible, manly things. Joined by their other two friends, this quartet of adventurers will do manly things such as a close encounter with a lion in Africa, ice climbing in Iceland, and staying in a hotel exclusively for members of the Communist Party in Vietnam. However, their real test as men isn’t in some faraway place. It is in their own homes. Can Man Mission turn them into the men needed by their families? You just have to read Man Mission by Eytan Uliel to find out.

What I like the most is the author’s writing style. In every chapter when the men went on a Man Mission, there are flashbacks detailing what happened to the main character's life that year before he went on a Man Mission. For me, it makes reading the book more fun and entertaining. I end up enjoying the story of the main character's life more than the Man Mission part. Halfway through the book, I found myself irritated with the main character. I felt that he whined so much but didn’t do anything to fix his life. I also felt that the reason he went on a Man Mission and did manly things was to hide his inadequacy as a man back home. The fact that I felt so emotional toward the character is proof that the author did a wonderful job writing this book.

The next thing I like is how the author describes the location of each Man Mission. The details are very good, and it made me able to imagine the locations vividly. It is as if I am standing alongside the characters watching the view. The characters are also very relatable. I feel connected with every conversation, every joke, and every struggle. As I mentioned above, the author did a wonderful job of making me connect emotionally to the characters in his book.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The book is exceptionally well-edited. I found no errors or typos in it. I also found nothing to dislike about the book. Everything the author wrote is wonderful and very descriptive, especially the part when the main character suffers from a mental breakdown and how he receives the needed support to fight through it.

I would recommend this book to those who enjoy traveling. The locations in this book could just be your next destination. Also, I recommend it to men over the age of 30 and those who are starting a family. I believe they would learn a lot from the struggle that happens in this book and would be able to make better decisions in their lives.

I liked this book as-well and had the same feeling about the characters. Good one.
