[Following is a volunteer review of "Reconfigurement" by E. Alan Fleischauer.]
Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer is a book that focuses on financial planning ahead of retirement. As the average American lifespan lengthens due to various factors, Alan believes that a lot of people work for retirement but don’t plan which is a colossal mistake, or in some cases some plan and make no effort to work to give life to their meticulous plans. He believes ‘retirement strategies need to include a plan of action that actively incorporates pre-and post-retirement activities.’ In this book, he touches on financial literacy and asks the questions that make you rack your brain for answers that quite frankly might be beyond your current knowledge but don’t worry this book will answer those questions for you and give you an understanding of the finance world and good retirement planning, unlike any other book.
Reconfigurement touches on every aspect of finance, income, revenue, investment, 401(k)s, insurance and so much more. Research is a very important step when it comes to your Reconfigurement journey, after assessing and putting into perspective Alan’s take on finance, retirement, and preparation for it, the best thing is to turn on that computer and research your future because everything you thought you knew will be questioned.
This book is easy to read even for someone who has little to no knowledge of finance and all it entails, it makes sure to leave a lasting impact on you. It doesn’t bore you to death as the typical finance guide does. Alan does a beautiful job simplifying and making the hard talk of finance fun. He doesn’t just throw you in the pit as many authors do, he guides you and gives some helpful recommendations. For instance, he tells us about his experience with different career, personal, work values, etc assessment tests, which ones are worth it and the ones to completely avoid. All this helps to figure out where we fit in in the career world, which job fits our goals, and who we are.
E. Alan Fleischauer has done a commendable job with this book and I can find absolutely no faults in his work. Well written, well edited, what else can one ask for? This book is a 5 out of 5 stars, it might be ballsy to say this but it’s perfect as a guidebook to better financial decisions and planning for the future.
While the target audience for this book is quite obviously older people in their 40s or older who already have some experience in financial planning and career choices, I believe this book can also be of good use to people just about to start their adult life and about to enter the world of daunting decision making when it comes to career choices. I recommend all who aspire to have a fulfilling pre-and-post-retirement life read this book as it is very enlightening and helpful.
