Are you interested in financial advice and investments for retirement? If so, this is the right book for you. Many people are not sure what they want to do after they retire, where their source of income will come from and how they will carry on with day-to-day expenses. If you are one of those people, then this book will help you out.

Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer is a self-help book that focuses on giving readers advice on financial planning. The author provides insight into the benefits of retirement planning. He also addresses topics like investments, insurance policies, financial risks, and so forth. He further helps readers to view their everyday practices involving finances and setting a budget for their daily income. There are clear definitions and descriptions of the American policies on investing, insurance, retirement benefits, and extra sources of income in this book. Reconfigurement helps one to self-evaluate themselves, their lives, and their jobs. It further helps readers to understand the benefits of some policies. The author addresses social security facts and explains the retirement benefits as well as how to claim such under social security. Moreover, Alan clearly shows the importance of having a retirement plan.

There are several aspects I loved in this book. I found Alan’s sense of humor very intriguing. He made sure to include jokes in his chapters whenever he felt the reader might get bored reading the book. This certainly helped whenever I felt like I was losing interest. Also, I loved that he provided links for some aspects he mentioned to make it easier for people to do their research accordingly which will prove quite beneficial to readers. The book is also engaging, it doesn’t make one feel like they are reading a book but that they are having a conversation on financial planning with a sound financial advisor. The writing style is easy to flow with and there are no obscurities.

However, there is only one thing I disliked about the book. The author seems to be mostly addressing Americans and this makes him seem biased. I understand that he lives in America, given he did mention it but, I feel as though he could have not focused too much on American policies, seeing that the purpose of his book is to help readers with reconfiguring their lives. Non-Americans included.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because it seems to have been professionally edited and I also enjoyed learning from it. I would recommend this book to the working force, people who are close to retirement as well as people who are retired. I believe this book can help all of them achieve better results when retirement age comes and for the retired people, I think the book will help them to see how they can further their lives even after retirement.
