An American Conspiracy by Alan C. Moore sucks you in immediately with the Jihadist teen, Yasmin, and his struggles to accept his suicide mission in the food court of a mall in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Yasmin's decision to not follow through on his mission was trumped by his handler with a remote control device. This disaster is swiftly followed by an attack on four offshore oil rigs and then the brutal devastation of OPEC headquarters in Vienna, Austria.

Madison Gladstone, a first-term member of the House of Representatives, is blindsided by the suicide of her mentor, long-time friend Senator Boyd Radford, shortly after they had lunch together. When questioned by Special Agent Walter Robinson of the FBI about Senator Radford's demeanor during lunch, Madison said that he was coy and mentioned secrets. When Agent Robinson brought up the possibility of blackmail, she neglects to mention that she asked Boyd if someone was blackmailing him. His reply was, "Not me.......everyone else". Madison and Walter continue to try to find the motivation behind Senator Radford's suicide even after being cautioned to let it go. But Walter and Madison don't let it go and things get even crazier after that! Read the book to find the answer to how all the situations above are related, and the why of Senator Radford's demise.

The author continues the action throughout the story with very few lulls in the pace. The writing is taut, easy to read, and keeps pulling you along so you don't want to take a break. I liked everything about this book.....the in-depth descriptions of the characters and their relationships with each other, the Congressional scenes, and the totally surprising ending. An American Conspiracy is easily one of the best political thrillers that I have read in recent years. I was left looking for the next book in the series.

There is nothing that I disliked about this book. Even the suicide bomber in the mall was used to show that not all members of the Islamic faith believe everything that the Jihadists proclaim. I gladly give a rating of 5 out of 5 stars to Alan C. Moore's book An American Conspiracy.

I would recommend this book to all lovers of political thrillers, but also to those who wonder about what is actually happening in our capital. This is a "what if" book along a very scary line of thought.

Suspense often attracts me to books. This book seemed to have been crafted to arrest the reader. Thanks for your recommendation.
