[Following is a volunteer review of "Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula" by R.F. Kristi.]
I used to enjoy reading children's stories when I was younger. Anytime my mother returns from a trip, she buys children's books for me. I usually read them in my free time. They gave me comfort and reminded me of my youth.
Inca was the leader of a cat detective agency. She worked alongside his brother and sister. Their detective agency was well known in Russia for successfully resolving numerous cases. Inca's mother was a famous chef. She was to be a judge in a cheese contest in South Korea. Inca and her family were excited to travel to South Korea. Inca and her family would also travel with some of their family friends. On the plane to South Korea, they met Enzo, a chef who always tried to steal their mother's cooking recipe. The chef was also traveling to South Korea for the competition. Is Enzo going to South Korea with evil intentions? To find out, read this book.
I was impressed by the author's decision to list the book's characters before beginning the story. The list made reading the book easy. I also liked how R.F. Kristi included some images in the story. It made me relate to the characters' expressions. The cover of this book piqued my interest. It was vibrant and captivating. I liked how the author used this book to teach the readers about family love. The book also included good morals for children to learn, such as teamwork, obedience, honesty, and humility.
Inca was my favorite character in the book. She had zeal, which was what I liked best about her. Even though Baram was not her friend, she did everything she could to assist Baram in finding her sister. I learned from her actions that someone must not be your friend before you help them. I also liked how Inca's mother looked after them. She adored them equally and never preferred one of her children over another. She never scolded them when they did something wrong; instead, she helped them learn from their mistakes by giving them advice.
The only thing I didn't like about Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula was that it contained some words that children might not understand. Aside from this flaw, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The book was exceptionally well edited and had no grammatical errors.
I would rate the book 5 out of 5 stars because the plot was intriguing and thrilling. I recommend this book to children over the age of eight. Because of the difficult words used in the book, children under eight years old may find it difficult to read.
