Review of Man Mission

[Following is a volunteer review of "Man Mission" by Eytan Uliel.]
Man Mission by Eytan Uliel is a story of four men who tour the world over the course of fifteen years. This started as a dream of two of these four friends while on campus. A dream of touring the world to experience exotic cultures and eat some strange food. A few years after graduation, they plan their first mission to New Zealand. This isn't just an ordinary tour where you get a guide, and see a few tourist attraction sites in the comfort of a cruiser. You then go back home to your normal life. It is one filled with fun and challenging activities that these men consider 'manly'. For example, hiking or cycling a few hundred miles through difficult terrains and some extreme weather conditions. This then became a tradition. Moreso, an annual 'event' if I may call it so. The other two decide to join in not wanting to miss out on the fun.
We are also introduced to the personal lives of these four men. We see them maneuver through life as some go up the corporate ladder and others become successful law practitioners. Life does not only revolve around their careers but also revolves around love. Seems like they had it figured out in the beginning with being financially well off, having a wife and kids, and a comfortable home. In addition, they are the epitome of what society considers to be success. However, the tables turn and the unexpected happens and now each of these men is forced to adjust and make something out of what life throws at them.
This is one book that shows the true meaning of friendship. They often tease each other about who is manly and who is not. They actually have a pink bracelet that can be given to anyone who is 'girly,' all done on a lighter note. In the event that one of them is faced with tragedy, the other three cover him in his vulnerability while reaching above and beyond to help him. This is not something you see every Tuesday in a world full of betrayal.
It's very easy to read this book in one sitting. As strange meant experiencing something new and exotic, I always looked forward to their response, which was usually witty and unexpected.
I honestly could not find any negative points in this piece of writing. The book was also well edited. I did not find any grammatical errors in my reading. These amazing aspects earn the book a perfect score of 5 out of 5 stars.
I would first recommend this book to those who love traveling. At the beginning of every chapter, the author provides a map of the man's target destination. The experiences shared will leave you wanting to experience the same for yourself. Maps can provide some direction. Secondly, to the men struggling to meet the expectations of society. The real-life stories shared here of how unfair society is to men, how these four men handled it and the lessons given will be liberating. Thirdly, for those in marriage. The author shares his struggles in marriage as well as his friends' and lessons learned. Here are a few nuggets of wisdom that might save your marriage or your relationship. Finally, for those having a bad day, I highly recommend this book. My reading kept me laughing the whole time, something you need to do as well.
