[Following is a volunteer review of "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" by P D Botha.]
Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow by P D Botha is a book that mainly focuses on topics such as evolution, science, and religion. The author talks about the discovery of the universe, Homogenesis, Noogenesis, and Noosphere. The book is a mixture of Christianity and science. It takes two approaches to some of the biggest and oldest questions that humanity has been trying to find answers to for years.
This book is fascinating. It is filled with countless numbers of seemingly basic or general information, yet the materials presented in the book are educational and enlightening. Even though the book contains scientific descriptions, somehow the author managed to write it in a simple way. This procedure makes the book easy to understand which in turn adds to the experience of reading it. Because of that, the reader is able to finish the book, grasp the ideas presented in it and remember at least some of the interesting facts.
What makes this book completely unique is the fact that it combines science and faith. These two are commonly known for always being in contradiction. But that did not stop P D Botha from writing about both science and faith in one book. He describes both concepts in a serious and knowledgeable manner. He touches upon aspects like the creation of the universe, the Big Bang Theory, planetogenesis, or human evolution.
What is worth mentioning is that the author was able to explain both sides and not favour one. He managed to put his own preferences aside and give the readers a chance to choose for themselves. He gave answers and explanations but he did not try to force the readers to make a choice between them.
Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow is professionally edited, I did not spot any mistakes.
The book is insightful and captivating. I especially liked the idea of combining two ostensibly conflicting concepts. The author managed to perfectly balance both of them. Since the book’s topics are faith and science, it is filled with information. Therefore some people may find it a bit overwhelming at times.
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I liked everything about it.
I would recommend this book to anyone interested in either science or faith. I think that nearly everyone would benefit from reading this book. In my opinion, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow is appropriate for Christians as well as non-believers. Definitely a suitable read for those who want to find answers to questions about existence, earth, and life.
