[Following is a volunteer review of "Terms of Service" by Craig W. Stanfill.]
Terms of Service by Craig W. Stanfill is a science fiction novel that is set in the future, where the Artificial Intelligence Company rules our society. The book tells the story of Kim, who was working as an AI trainer at the Artificial Intelligence Company. Her ordinary days in her somehow contented life started going downhill after she and her best friend Shan committed multiple violations against the AI Company's Terms of Service when they went bicycling into a highly restricted area. Kim was then left to make a series of significant decisions that would consequently lead to her discovery of her identity and her past.
This is an impressive book that teaches us the importance of our freedom to think for ourselves as human beings. It reminds us that our vulnerabilities, impulses, and uniqueness are what make us precious among all the other creations in the world. I love how the main character fights for her freedom to gain control over her life and how her defiance against the manipulation of the AI Company is emphasized at the center of the plot. I also love the slower character development and story build-up. It makes the story easier to grasp and comprehend and even more exciting and thrilling with every turn of events. Furthermore, I appreciate how it gives me new insights into the probability of our future society with AI.
I have no negative comments to make about this book. Reading the whole story has been a pleasure from the first page to the last. On top of that, I did not notice any errors in this book, so I believe that it is well edited.
This book is a commendable sci-fi creation of the author. I was completely thrilled by the story and very excited to read the sequel. Because of my satisfying experience reading this book, I would love to give it 5 out of 5 stars.
I would recommend the book to all readers who are interested in science fiction, especially those who are curious about artificial intelligence. The book is also ideal to read for those who seek motivation for asserting their freedom to think and make decisions for their own lives. This is truly an eye-opening book for those who feel suffocated by being deprived of freedom.
