[Following is a volunteer review of "Reconfigurement" by E. Alan Fleischauer.]
Reconfigurement written by E. Alan Fleischauer is an educational self-help book about financial and retirement planning. This book covers a wide range of topics such as career and personality assessment, college saving plans, various types of investments, insurances, and testaments, with a lot of useful links to recommendations of what to do in your retirement. So if you are stuck in a job you hate, if you are afraid to make important changes in your life, if you think that you are too old for something, this book is for you as it can give you encouragement to think of change nota s something painful but as an opportunity to make your life better.
What I liked most about this book was the friendly way it was written. The author encourages and motivates the reader to continue reading, so that even people, who get bored to death when talking about insurance and financial stuff can get through this book without any difficulty. Moreover, it is not a long read and has a lot of humor, with jokes in every chapter. When you read this book, you feel as if you are talking to a friend, who wants to share his knowledge, and support you. There are beneficial links to self-reflection tests that can help you to know yourself better and find career path options that are the most suitable for you. So even though this book is most valuable for people, who already started working, as a young reader, I gained some valuable knowledge that helped me to know myself better and will definitely help me in the future when I start working as I gained information about insurance, investments, topics you always hear but usually know nothing about.
The only negative thing about this book is that when you are not from the USA, it's a bit difficult to understand some terms like 401(k), which is common knowledge for people living in the United States, but is very unfamiliar to readers from other countries, so a short explanation of this term would have been helpful.
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because it was exceptionally well-written and edited, I couldn't spot a single grammar mistake.
I would recommend this book to anyone, who doesn't enjoy their current job. The book is mostly oriented toward people, who already started working, but even high-school students can find something valuable, as there is chapter three, which is about carrier assessment with many useful links to free tests. It's a very easy short read, takes a couple of others to finish this book, and is absolutely beneficial for every adult.
