When Great-Aunt Rita got a toy dinosaur for Jake’s birthday, she never expected how things would turn out. The worker at the store explained that the dinosaur could walk and talk, so Great-Aunt Rita brought it home. When Jake opened the dinosaur, Great-Aunt Rita got batteries for it, and the dinosaur acted in a way that nobody saw coming. To see what the dinosaur did and how the family reacted, check out Roarasaurus by Great-Aunt Rita (and she really is GREAT!) with lots of help from Jake and Elina Farber.

I liked how this book was a little silly, which is perfect for kids. The illustrations were excellent as well. The message of showing patience, love, and kindness is a great one to pass on to all people, but especially kids. Also, I like how it shows the importance of being kind to toys, regardless of whether they can talk or not. It shows respect for all things.

The only minor drawback to the story is that I wish the author had given more detail about how Jake tamed the dinosaur. I think some more specific examples would have been helpful. Other than that, I thought it was excellent.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. The very few minor errors I found did not take away from my enjoyment of the book, and it was still very well edited. The lesson was admirable, and I think it would be enjoyed by many people.

I recommend this book to kids who like dinosaurs. The toy is a dinosaur, but kids do not have to like dinosaurs to enjoy this book because it is not about anything technical about dinosaurs. The story could be told with many different animals in place of the dinosaur. Parents with young kids would also enjoy reading this story to their kids because there are valuable lessons to be learned. See what Roarasaurus has to offer!
