In It Together by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes was such an interesting read that I did not expect to love as much as I did. As the title suggests, the main theme is unity. Therefore, I was surprised by how unique the content was and how deeply the ideas were explored. We begin by discussing the struggles of mankind, then move into a large section that focuses on the idea of exploring the true self, and then finally we come to this idea of the inherent connection between people.

Something really great about the book was how it was setup. I think the way we moved through the topics contributed to how much I enjoyed it. For example, I like how we started with a broader view of the world and then dove in to look at ourselves before moving back to look at how we interact with people and things outside of us. I also really like how Hughes speaks to the reader and I felt so seen. There were many examples used to showcase any particular point, like listing various types of struggles a person may experience. To me, this is vital to building a relationship between author and reader and that connection is what makes the book so good. I know which examples stuck out to me more and how in their absence, those sections of the book may not have meant as much to me.

I did not find anything negative about this book and I also did not notice any sort of errors as I read it.

This is one of those rare books that I give 5 out of 5 stars. I think it deserves this rating because it is about deeply meaningful topics (human-to-human connection, the true self, and unity), but is actually a really fun read too! It sucked me in and blew my mind with the thoughtfulness of the ideas contained within its pages. The type of content is hard to cover in a book and even harder to keep entertaining-and this book manages to do both.

I would recommend this book to people who are mature, in the sense that they are open minded. The book does mention religion and spirituality, especially during parts that talk about the true self. However, as an atheist myself, I felt very welcome and not at all uncomfortable with all of the content. Thus, I think the book is best suited for someone who wants to learn and see a different perspective.
