[Following is a volunteer review of "Roarasaurus" by Great-aunt Rita(and she really is GREAT!) with lots of help from Jake and Elina Farber.]
Roarasaurus: The Roaring Soaring Dinosaur is a children's book written by Great-Aunt Rita, also known as Rita Berman, MD, and illustrated by Mike Sofka. The author's great niece and nephew, Jake and Elina Farber, also contributed to the making of the book. Great-Aunt Rita is on the hunt to find the best possible gift for Jake. She knows children enjoy toy animals and is delighted when she finds a toy she believes Jake will love.
Jake is excited to open his gift for his birthday from his Great-Aunt Rita. He opens the gift to find a dinosaur and is ready to play with his new toy. Once they figure out why it won't walk and talk, chaos happens shortly after. Jake, his sister, and his Great-Aunt Rita have to figure out how to control Roarasaurus.
This book is more geared toward younger children, between the ages of five and eight years old. Adults will enjoy reading it to younger children. Older youth would find the content to be under their reading level and prefer to skip it.
I found Roarasaurus: The Roaring Soaring Dinosaur to be an entertaining children's story. The characters are well-developed. Great-Aunt Rita sounds like she would be so much fun to have around. The illustrations in the book go perfectly with the story and help bring it to life. The storyline is amusing and will keep the attention of young readers. I also enjoyed Jake's mom's advice on being a good friend. I feel it was an important lesson for readers. Overall, there was nothing to dislike about this book.
I rated the book 5 out of 5 stars. It appears to be exceptionally edited and contains no errors. The author did an amazing job creating a fun story for younger children. I would suggest this book to other parents for their children. I would be interested in other stories by this author.
