[Following is a volunteer review of "Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula" by R.F. Kristi.]
The main character of this children's book is a cat named Inca, along with her buddies, who collectively go by the name of Inca and Company. Everything started when Missy (Inca's mom), a cheese maker who had just created her own unique cheese, was chosen as one of the judges for the French pastry competition in South Korea. Missy will be able to share her special cheese with the world there. Unfortunately, mom noticed the cheese was gone when she met Enzo, another of the selected judges, at the airport. Then, this occurrence offers Inca and her squad a chance to show off their top detective expertise. Will they get the cheese back? Will Inca and her group of detectives find the lost cheese? Learn more by reading this book.
I have to give credit where credit is due to the illustrator of this book. He lavishly embellished the book with vibrant drawings that served to entice readers. Children cannot help but appreciate the narrative because it is written in such a colorful and captivating manner. Inca and her team often had amusing and funny conversations. I admire and respect Inca's upbeat attitude. Wherever they traveled, she and her team would always make friends. They always made wise decisions since these folks would help them in the future.
Their ties, camaraderie, and cooperation are wonderful lessons for kids. It was wonderful of the author to include these themes in this book because no individual is an island to himself. The portrayal of Mom in this novel was another aspect I enjoyed. Her intelligence is awesome, and she knows how to use it in challenging situations.
This book has nothing that I detest about it because I could not find anything wrong with it. Even an adult would learn a lot from reading R.F. Kristi's Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula. The geographic information presented will aid kids in increasing their understanding of Korea.
I encountered no errors while reading, which is a testament that the book is exceptionally well edited. I advise kids above five years of age to read this book. It was an exciting read that readers who prefer short stories and casual reading would like. Because there was no negative aspect I noticed in the book, I am rating it 5 out of 5 stars.
