Review of We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies

[Following is a volunteer review of "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz.]
We are Voulhire A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a world of steel, magic, and politics. The three universes are the physical, spiritual, and magical, and will captivate you with the possibilities. Galen Bray’s luck has changed and we learn about Voulhire through his eyes. Meldorath is on a path that will create a change to all of Voulhire, and maybe even the universes. The characters of Voulhire create a world that is rich and engaging. By the last page you are left wanting for more and thinking of the endless possibilities of Voulhire.
By the second encounter with Galen you are hooked and the writing style begins to make sense. The strength of the characters and the richness of the story is what I liked the best. The relationship between Galen and Rowan is captivating and is endearing. The last time a read a story that I liked this much was the Wheel of Time.
It is a slow beginning and takes a while for the three starting stories to grow into a single novel. It felt more like character development than a story but eventually began to become an interesting read. It even felt like the first several chapters were written by different authors. While I have read books with a similar starting this book felt awkward till the second introduction to Galen, after that point it became more engaging.
I struggled with the rating on this book. It finally came down to the fact that I wanted to read more and that I couldn’t put down the story. I rate We are Voulhire A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz a 5 out of 5. The story would make an excellent series and I would read each book. The approach to magic is different and very interesting. The politics and court intrigue is well written. I definitely want to read more.
Recommend Audience would be anyone that liked Dragon Riders of Pern or the Wheel of Time. This book has the story to make for another epic series of books. Between the three universes, strong writing, character development, engaging story, this is a book that is hard to put down once you start reading.
