Review of Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula

[Following is a volunteer review of "Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula" by R.F. Kristi.]
R.F. Kristi's Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula is about a Siberian cat named Inca who heads the Inca & Company investigative agency. She has a talent for sniffing out shady characters, and she also has a talent for tracking leads and finding her targets. The company's many successful ventures had given her and her small army of investigators a nice little reputation that crossed over to foreign lands. When their mom was invited to South Korea for a baking competition, she knew that this would be a great opportunity to introduce her talents to a whole new demographic. How will she fare in a foreign land that she knew nothing about?
There's a political overtone about this story that might be seen as either a good thing or not. The book speaks openly about the political divide that exists between North Korea and South Korea. It introduces us to a family separated by that divide, and we learn about how that situation affected the family. On one hand, I think that this serves as a cool opportunity to address political situations with a child, but on the other hand, the child might be a little too young to understand or appreciate what any of this means.
Overall, I thought that the story was fun and interesting. A group of animal friends and family working together to solve mysteries seems like a good idea for a series of books. I can see children enjoying several of these books because they involve uncovering mysteries.
I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars because I think that it's solid and fun. R.F. Kristi offers us many memorable characters. The book also follows a very interesting story about investigation, which is a good premise for a children's book.
I would recommend it to children who have a good command of the English language because it's quite lengthy. I think that children at least eight years old would be most suitable for this type of book.
