[Following is a volunteer review of "A Dream For Peace" by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah.]
Proof of love for one's country goes beyond mere words or profession. It mainly has to do with showing it. This is exactly the case with Berrah. He is a native of Algeria who fought for his country's independence and that of other African countries against the French colonists.
A Dream For Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah shows how the author's fight for freedom got started. It started when the French colonists exerted so much maltreatment on the citizens of Algeria. As a result, it led to his agitation for the independence of Algeria. This continued when he traveled to France for tertiary education. He established various organizations, such as AEMNA, for deliberation. This was further illustrated in his relationship with the president of Cote d'Ivoire. Will his dream to obtain peace for his country and other countries in Africa come true? Find out the answer to the question above when you read this amazing book.
Every man craves freedom. No one wants to be enslaved and ordered around. Some people will say a man was born with pride and doesn't like to be controlled. Ordinarily, I would have preferred the author had continued. I enjoyed the reality of his experience, which was backed up with a lot of pictures. It shows the authenticity of his story. An aspect of this book I admired was the unity that existed among the author's brothers. Though not biological brothers, he referred to anyone from the same country as him or from his neighboring countries as his brothers.
Culture distinguishes one group of people from another. I like how they organized ceremonies that were filled with a lot of interesting moments. At some point, I admired the beauty culture creates and the uniqueness it provides. While reading, I concluded the author deserves an award for being selfless. This is because, in Africa, the people perceive leaders occupying various political positions to be there for their own selfish interests and not for the interests of the people.
I found no negative aspects in this book. Therefore, there was nothing I disliked about it. The words used in the book were not technical and were easy to understand. I learned a lot about Algeria, some other countries in Africa, and their people. Though I found a few errors, they did not prevent me from enjoying the book's content. This implies that the book was professionally edited. As a result, I would rate it five out of five stars. This is because I enjoyed every part of the book. I would recommend it to anyone who has a great love for his or her country because they will learn a lot from the author.
