[Following is a volunteer review of "The Prophecy of the Heron" by Craig W. Stanfill.]
Craig W. Stanfill created a world way ahead of time where artificial intelligence (AI) is everywhere and crucial for humans. The book The Prophecy of the Heron is the second book by the author after Terms of Service. It is the story of humans and AI and how necessary it is to create a balance between them. After the trial, Kim was sent to District 33. District 33 was full of crimes and violence and there was no order or system for things. Kim found a job as a cab driver and she discovered some secrets about AI. She met again with Shan and together they set out on a big adventure.
The best part of the story was the main character ’Kim’. Kim proved to be so brave and courageous that she survived and lived in District 33 despite the attacks and violence. She even managed to make some new friends and also found a new job for herself. She is an inspiration for all and even after so many struggles and death threats, she was adamant about her morals and actions. The story is very interesting as there is always something new coming up in each chapter of the book. The book is filled with adventures and discovering the secrets of artificial intelligence.
Overall, the book is very readable and well-edited. The only thing I found problematic was that some parts of the story were confusing as there was too much happening. We sometimes had Kim and other times we had the doppelganger, both visiting different places, and doing different tasks, so it was a bit confusing. Aside from that, the story is very well written and communicated.
I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars as I found no flaws or errors in the book. Humans and artificial intelligence are portrayed as having a very positive and healthy relationship in the story. In addition, humans can use AI for the greater good of all humans and the earth. In the end, it is up to us as we are the ones who create and terminate AI. Therefore, it is our duty to use AI wisely.
I recommend this book to those who love to read science fiction and adventure books. The story is very captivating and enticing and you are going to love this book. One can even learn so many things about AI and the future world where humans live with machines and AI.
