Review of Terms of Service
The science fiction book Terms of Service by Craig W. Stanfill imagines a future in which artificial intelligence has advanced to the point that it has partially replaced human labour, allowing society to operate more efficiently. The AI is capable of managing a wide range of human activities, including parenting styles, romantic relationships, work attitudes, security, and much more. The pros and drawbacks of a society that depends on artificial intelligence to perform its fundamental functions are discussed in the book, along with its advantages and downsides.
Kim acts as the story's protagonist. She works as a trainer for automation at a company that specializes in artificial intelligence, and she abides by the "Terms of Service," which require her to adhere to a rigid set of standards. She typically gains points by alerting other users to their infractions. Kim attempted to disguise her sentiments so that she wouldn't be warned by the system, but after a while, life started to feel uninteresting, and she started to feel empty and alone. Kim had a strong desire to embark on new experiences and adventures. However, everything turned upside down when her best friend came into her life. The AIS turned on her, and she was left to fight for her freedom. Will she finally achieve it?
I admired the author's ability to have us use our imaginations to zoom into the future and visualize a world in which artificial intelligence rules, allowing us to consider the benefits and drawbacks that may exist. Aspects of the terms of service that the people in the novel had to abide by were clearly outlined by the author, and I thought this was wonderful. The novel's topic being somewhat realistic was another aspect I liked. The author did a great job of showing us how technology is slowly encroaching on our world and how certain industrialized countries have established a technology-based civilization, such as telerobotics, electronic libraries, and electronic medicine.
I didn't find anything in the book to be unappealing. The book was incredibly fascinating to read, and if I had the chance, I would read it again without hesitation.
I gave this book a 5 out of 5 star rating since it was well written, had a lot of tension, was relevant, and I had a hard time finding any fault in it. The book was professionally edited and error-free. I'd recommend the book to anyone who likes science fiction, suspense, or artificial intelligence.
