Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula by R.F. Kristi brings together characters of different species to solve a mystery. Mom, a professional chef, has been invited to Korea to be a Judge in a cheese-making competition, and she takes her family of animals with her. In this competition, she is also expected to show the world a new cheese that she developed, but unfortunately, Enzo, a rival, is hell-bent on sabotaging her career. Getting wind of the problem that could jeopardize the competition, Inca and her team must work together to stop it.

I really believe this book is the perfect read for children. It teaches a variety of lessons, some of which include courage, positive thinking, the spirit of teamwork, resilience, building peace, and creating unity, to mention a few. The format of this book is simple, and its content is easy to read and assimilate. It is a fast-paced book that is perfect for children, and its description will easily create an excellent pictorial image in the mind of the readers. The fact that the author gave some pictorial illustrations in this book made it bright, colorful, expressive, and more exciting for children to read. I was able to learn a few things about Korean culture from this book. The author made it easy to learn some French words used in this book because she provided the meaning immediately after the words.

This is the first animal-based story I have read, and I must say I really enjoyed how the cats and dogs interacted and how they were able to work together throughout their adventures. I loved how the personalities of the characters in this novel remained consistent. I really admired the character of Inca; despite being in charge, she still made sure that everyone was carried along, and she took the lead where need be.

There was absolutely nothing to dislike about this book. It was exceptionally well edited, as I found no mistakes in it.

I have no reason to deduct a star, as I found neither a downside nor an error in the book. With that being said, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

I recommend this book to children between the ages of six and twelve years old because that is the age range most suitable for it.
