[Following is a volunteer review of "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz.]
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Matthew Tysz is a book about science and fantasy. The story is about two worlds which are Cosmos (the physical world) and the Caromentis is all about magic.
There are two nations that the author has described. The Emperor of Lullabies ruled a vast and powerful kingdom. He had four sons. The emperor divided the islands off the mainland among his sons. These islands were beautiful and prosperous. The princes were happy to rule the islands. But the greed to rule the whole kingdom started a war between brothers in two years. The life of the commoner became very miserable. It was difficult for the general public to live on those islands. One such character that the author has mentioned in the book is Galen. He is a young boy that existed in the Land of Princes. His life there was miserable. But his life took a turn, and everything changed.
Galen escaped the Land of Princes. He went to Magnum Caleum, where his uncle used to stay. Sadly, when Galen arrived, his uncle passed away. But he made sure he learned how to forge as his uncle was the only blacksmith in the town. Galen had a house here. He was at peace compared to his survival in the Land of Princes.
On the other hand, Lord Eldus ruled the kingdom of Hillport. He was now the new lord of Hillport. This place was very peaceful. The king heeded the interests of his people rather than his profits. Eldus desired to grow this nation where people should live peacefully without fear and stress. A prosperous nation.
The book is well-edited. The characters are well-built. I loved the characters, Galen and Rowan. Matthew described the characters so well that it was easy to picture the whole scene. Some of the parts were a bit confusing. But that was cleared up when I read the entire book. I feel some of the content was not suitable for children. And that is why I would suggest an adult age group read the book. Since the first book in the series is so interesting, I feel the following books will also be worth reading.
The language used by the author is incredible. He has used mockery as an ace of cards in his story. I loved the storyline. It was flowing and lucid. I would give a 4 out of 5 stars rating to the book. This is a great book. I would not give a 5 out of 5 rating since it is not the best one for me. But surely a great one.
