Review of Terms of Service

[Following is a volunteer review of "Terms of Service" by Craig W. Stanfill.]
"Once you accept this job, you are ours, and you will do as you are told." The question is, would you give up your freedom and individuality just to have a good social cohesion rating and a luxurious lifestyle? Let's quickly find out where Kim finds herself in all of them.
In his book, Terms of Service: Subject to Change, Craig W. Stanfill introduced his readers to the world of artificial intelligence (AI), where he created a futuristic society ruled by the AIs, who constantly used a carrot and stick approach to induce cooperation from their subjects. Each individual, including Kim, was constantly monitored by the AIs using a neural network driven by the health monitors implanted in their wrists. Kim was assigned to train the automatons after she joined the artificial intelligence company. Everything was going perfectly fine until Kim realized something very outrageous about herself and the dark secrets of the AIs. Will this discovery give her a stake in the company or cost her everything? Grab the book and find out.
This 248-page work of fiction is Book 1 of the AI dystopia novel. It is divided into three parts: the spring, the summer, and the fall. It was released in April 2021, bringing along a thrilling effect that keeps readers completely engrossed until the last page. I thoroughly enjoyed the author's writing style. It was original yet very appealing. The characters were fantastically developed with distinctive features, while creating realistic dialogue that matches the characters' personalities. A typical case is the director, whose emotionless personality was depicted through her contemptuous ridiculing of her subjects. The backdrops of the story were perfectly described by the author, creating a vivid picture of events and locations in my mind. For instance, this alluring description, "the ocean stretched out to infinity, raw and powerful, waves crashing on jagged rocks and throwing curtains of spray that sparked in the sunlight," had me completely immersed in his work of creativity. The adoption of a future language, Panglobal, for the society was very innovative and made the story very plausible, as English is termed "a classical language" by the AIs.
Apart from the occasional confusion created between real-life events and the events of the VR headset, I have nothing to dislike about this enchanting work of art. The author gave it his all, being a doctorate degree holder in artificial intelligence.
I found no errors in this book, which indicates an exceptionally well-edited piece. Hence, I have no reason not to give it a well-deserved full rating of 5 out of 5 stars because of its insightful theme and interesting plots.
I recommend this book to lovers of sci-fi novels. Anyone interested in artificial intelligence systems may also find it intriguing. However, due to the excessive use of drugs and illicit sex scenes, it may not be suitable for young readers.
