[Following is a volunteer review of "Reconfigurement" by E. Alan Fleischauer.]
Reconfigurement is a guide to retirement life written by E. Alan Fleischauer. Although most of the concepts lean towards financial interests related to retirement, the book also touches on career-related issues and financial issues that affect almost all classes of adults.
In the opening chapters of the book, the author approaches the issue of increasing life span in the standard American society, and its effects on retirement. As the book goes ahead to speak on finance-related issues, choosing and accessing careers, life insurance, making investment choices, and pension plans, the book focuses on one thing: planning ahead. Planning ahead for retirement, a career change, or making better financial plans.
Looking at the positives of the book, I loved the fact that there was a lot of humor interspersed with talking on such a very important topic in human life. Both in the form of pictures and writing, the book contained a lot of humor which made it easy and interesting to read the book. I also loved the fact that the book touched on so many points that had to do with the ideal adult life. After reading the book, one could know what to look out for while planning for a career or retirement.
I liked the chapter on finding your fit. It gave some websites which can help an individual assess not only their ideal career choice but also assess themselves to know what they are good at and which career path will best suit them. I found this very important because many people rush to find a career without taking the time to assess which one may be the best, given their preferences in life. Sooner or later, they find themselves stuck in working conditions that do not appeal to them.
I found almost nothing to dislike or term negative about the book, or any errors. It was professionally edited. So I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The book covers very important information in just a couple of chapters and is easy to read. In my opinion, it is the one book to go through when thinking of retirement, especially in relation to finances. I recommend this book to persons who want to make the most out of their career life or their retirement life.
