Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula by R.F. Kristi is all about the solving of mysteries. Inca, Fromage, Cara, Monk, Charlotte, Terrance, and Polo were a group of furry little animals that were always on the lookout for new mysteries to solve. Together, they were known as the Inca & Company agency, and their mission in life was to investigate its mysteries and find solutions. Inca, Fromage, and Cara were little cats of different types. Charlotte was the lone hamster. Terrance and Polo were little doggies. This diversity helped them succeed in their investigative goals, and in this tale, they were faced with the difficult task of crossing the Korean border to find someone in North Korea. Are they capable of solving this tricky case?

Unlike most children's books, this one has a couple of layers to its narration. Firstly, there are quite a number of central characters, which is different from many children's books. I found that a typical children's book would place two or three characters in central roles, and I think that that is to ensure easy reading for the targeted demographic. Another layer is that this tale isn't as basic as I expected. The storyline is quite dynamic for a children's book, and I think that that is a great thing.

I thought that the illustrations complemented the story well, too. The colours used were mostly vibrant and inviting, which is probably a good thing for a child to see because that may encourage them to read the book.

This is an uplifting story that is sure to make the little ones feel great after they close the final page. I think that it was executed well, and I have nothing negative to say about it. I enjoyed everything that I read, and I hope that it will translate well when read by the intended demographic. I rate it 5 out of 5 stars.

For a children's book, the design is more on the sophisticated side of things, and I think that kids who are at least in their first grade may enjoy it. I think that a kid who enjoys stories about animals will find this book fulfilling.
