[Following is a volunteer review of "Apollo's Raven" by Linnea Tanner.]
"Apollo's Raven" by Linnea Tanner is an engaging and entertaining historical fantasy novel that takes readers on an exciting journey through ancient Celtic Britain. The story centers around a young Celtic princess named Catrin, who possesses mystical powers and is caught in the midst of a conflict between the Celts and the invading Romans.
Tanner does an excellent job of creating a vivid and immersive world that draws readers into the story. The descriptions of the landscapes, cultures, and characters are richly detailed and bring the ancient world to life. The mythology and magic woven into the story add an extra layer of intrigue and mystery, making for a truly captivating read.
The characters are well-developed and complex, with their motivations and actions driving the plot forward. Catrin is a strong and determined protagonist who faces numerous challenges as she tries to protect her people and uncover the truth about her past. Her interactions with the other characters, including the handsome Roman commander Marcellus and her own family members, are well-written and believable.
The pacing of the novel is also well-done, with the action and suspense building gradually throughout the book. The climactic battle scenes are intense and exciting, with the fate of the characters hanging in the balance.
Overall, "Apollo's Raven" is an excellent novel that blends historical fiction and fantasy to create a unique and compelling story. It will appeal to readers who enjoy a mix of adventure, romance, and magic in their books. I highly recommend it.
