Review of The Mystery Of Flight 2222
The Mystery of Flight 2222 by Thomas Neviaser revolves around nine passengers aboard Air USA Flight 2222 who are on their way to Argentina for different reasons. All thanks to Frank’s people skills and his excellent track record as a stock analyst for a big corporation, he is selected by the company to travel to Argentina for another business deal. His wife, Kate, lets him go even though she needed him with her during her pregnancy. Helen, another passenger aboard flight 2222, is on her way to Argentina for her mother-in-law’s funeral. She deeply resents herself for the way she treated her mother-in-law when she was alive. She hopes her trip will relieve her of her guilt.
By some twist of fate, Frank and Helen get acquainted with each other. Frank ropes Helen in on his guessing names. They try to guess the names, nationalities and backgrounds of seven passengers. What happens when they crash and realize that all their guesses were right? Was it all just a game? And what is the shocking mystery behind the crash of Air USA Flight 2222? Find out in this exciting story!
There are positive aspects to this book. The length is moderate and can be finished in one reading. The length of the chapters was also moderate, and the book was written in simple grammar. There were a few technical terms pertaining to airplanes and Japanese religious culture. However, this does not in any way impede understanding. Some conversations were also held in Spanish and broken English, but the author provided translations. I very much admired the relationship between Frank and Kate. It exuded so much understanding, support, and love. What should have been a sad and painful departure of her husband was turned around to be all fun and romantic.
More so, I enjoyed Frank’s and Irving’s self- preservation tactics and instincts. Their leadership skills and ability to remain rational, calm, and focused during emergency situations greatly helped the survivors overcome the different obstacles they faced. Most impressively, I loved the unexpected ending the author added to the story. With the way the author seemed to replicate the beginning of the book at the ending, I had thought it was some sort of error, but I was surprised in a good way. Though the plot of the story never had any missing parts, the epilogue provided additional information about the characters and a more detailed story of their lives in the past. The story also drove home a very important message: for everything we do, we must always reap the consequences or benefits. The book was professionally edited. I just found a very few errors.
However, I feel the author should have expanded the plot a bit more. He should have included much more exciting adventures and gruesome experiences that could have better rattled the characters. Most of the adventures the characters experienced were mediocre. I rate this book a 4 out of 5 stars . This is because even though it was a nice book, the plot could have been better utilized. I recommend this book to fans of adventure fiction and mystery thrillers.
