[Following is a volunteer review of "Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula" by R.F. Kristi.]
Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula, written by R.F. Kristi, is a children's book. It is the eighth book in The Inca Cat Detective Series.
Inca, a Siberian cat, runs a detective agency with her siblings and friends. Missy, a human is their mother. She was selected to become one of the judges at a cooking competition. This event was to take place at the demilitarised zone, between North and South Korean chefs. Mom is also thrilled to reveal her new cheese during the competition. The whole crew of "Inca & Company" joins Mom and Solo on the trip. While in Korea, they stay at the house of their Korean tour guide Ye-Jun and his dog Baram. Soon, Baram also becomes their close friend. Read on to find out what adventures await them in Korea.
The story was simple and wonderful. The characters were also distinct, with different traits. I liked all the members of "Inca & Company." My favourite character was Inca. Enzo's character made this story more lively. The presence of an antagonist like Enzo brought some hilarious moments to the story. The story takes place in Korea, and the beauty of that country can be enjoyed through this book. This book is also informative on Korean history and landscape.
The illustrations were perfectly done. It accompanied the story wonderfully. The story takes place in the form of diary entries, and that too was great. The language used to narrate the story was simple. I loved the way the sentences were written. I took special notice of the font used. It was different and looked extremely good.
There are no negatives that can be said about this book. I had a wonderful reading experience. I loved both the illustrations and the narrative style.
I would give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. I gave it a full-star rating due to the above-mentioned reasons. I highly recommend this book for children between the ages of eight and twelve.
