[Following is a volunteer review of "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz.]
We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies, written by Matthew Tysz is the first book in the We are Voulhire series. Eldus is a character in it. He was given the responsibility of leading the town of Hillport by the ruler of Voulhire. He must deal with the consequences of the rule of his two predecessors, a pedophile, and a magician. He has to help the pedophile's victims get better. He must also aid in putting an end to the town's growing fear as a result of the mage. But he could not grasp the scope and gravity of the mage's power. Galen, another character from the Lands of the Princes, moved to Voulhire. His deceased uncle in Voulhire made this movement possible. Galen's uncle gave him a house, a forge, and a large quantity of money. He thought there was nothing to be afraid of in Voulhire. He thought Voulhire to be an affluent and peaceful nation. Unfortunately for him, certain forces are capable of upsetting Voulhire's peace.
We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies is an amazing book. I found it difficult to put it down as I was drawn into the author's imaginative new world. I saw that this work had been given a lot of thought. The characters were kept on their toes by unexpected turns. It also kept me moving. The writer created a striking picture. He didn't drown the reader in unnecessary details. He made it easier for me to picture how the puzzle would come together. I couldn't put the book down as I read about these characters' lives and watched as they gradually came together.
I appreciated the fact that the narrative did not center on the conventional romantic topic. The characters made their moves for the checkmate slowly, just like in a game of chess. Brilliant characters, all of them. The way that each character's history was woven into the narrative as you read was well done by the author. There were many occasions in this novel that made me raise an eyebrow. Although there were a few instances where fighting was portrayed, the author did not go into great detail. I'm grateful for this.
About this book, I have nothing unfavorable to say. I was unable to put it down. I can't wait to see what the upcoming novels will bring.
I award this book a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. I did not encounter any errors while reading this book. This book was well-edited. Throughout my reading, I detected no mistakes. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy fantasy and science fiction with action and magic.
