[Following is a volunteer review of "Surviving the Business of Healthcare" by Barbara Galutia Regis PA-C.]
As the title suggests, Barbara Galutia Regis PA-C’s Surviving the Business of Health is about surviving the healthcare business. Dr. Regis discusses how to receive healthcare, the necessity of having and choosing a Primary Care Physician, US health insurance options, healthcare occupations and what you can and cannot do in each, and many other healthcare-related topics. The author works in primary care and also has cancer. As she based the book on her own life, this will establish the book's integrity and credibility. The central focus of this book is debunking common yet deadly myths about healthcare."Knowledge is power," as the adage goes. The author aims to make this knowledge available to improve our health.
The author starts the book by relating her childhood events and explaining how she developed into the person she is now. She pursued a medical career due to her family's medical practice history. Her father impacted her, and she decided to go beyond only treating patients and teach others about simple things they might need to maintain their health. Health insurance, safeguarding loved ones, having a primary care physician, getting affordable drugs, and more are what the author covered. Barbara Galutia Regis's well-written book discusses what she considers immoral about the healthcare system, how she would improve it, and what she is doing to advance the issue.
In this book, the author reveals everything, so make sure you pick it up to find out the truth. This book's non-medical language makes it simpler for non-medical readers to appreciate.
This book is perfect in every way, and I cannot find a single thing to criticize about it. Because I have also put off taking care of myself for an extended period to focus on my career and other important goals, I could relate to the author's description of her long period of ignoring her health and the strain it had on her family. This book taught me that choosing the appropriate doctors and balancing work and family is crucial to my health. This is a fantastic book that everyone should read, and I have found no errors; therefore, it was exceptionally well edited.
My overall opinion on Surviving the Business of Healthcare is that it deserves a 5 out of 5 stars rating. The ease of reading and simplicity of this book surprised me. As a rule, nonfiction books are dull and full of unfamiliar terms and jargon, but this one was an exception. Her examples and thoughts were quite educational and helpful. In the future, I plan to implement some of her suggestions. Anyone looking to lower their medical costs can benefit from reading this book. Visiting the doctor can be expensive, but this book can help you save money.
