Review of Man Mission

[Following is a volunteer review of "Man Mission" by Eytan Uliel.]
Man Mission by Eytan Uliel is a captivating story that follows the adventures of four ordinary friends as they seek out extraordinary experiences together. Written in the first person, their Man Missions originated from a random idea that emerged during their university years and came to fruition when they entered the working world. The protagonist and his best friend, Sam, feeling bogged down by the mundanity of corporate life, embark on the first-ever Man Mission to find adventure and rejuvenate their spirits.
Over the next fifteen years, they travel to destinations like New Zealand, South Korea, and Iceland, encountering injuries, damaged egos, run-ins with drug dealers, and a plethora of other adventures. As they continue this annual tradition, each man navigates the ups and downs of life at their own pace, and the story provides an in-depth view into the protagonist's thoughts as life unfolds before him.
The book is exceptionally well-written, showcasing the author's unique style of writing. The protagonist's worldview, motivations, joys, pains, weaknesses, and temptations are all vividly depicted. Additionally, the story provides a realistic portrayal of life, conveying the bittersweet emotions and struggles that the protagonist must navigate. It provided a close look into the thoughts of men, their struggles and their journey to figuring out what it really means to be a man. The book is also meticulously edited, with no discernible errors.
While there were no particular sections that I disliked, there were certain aspects that may not appeal to all readers. The story is written from a stereotypical "man's" point of view, and the protagonist can come across as blunt, heartless, and even foolish at times. This may be off-putting for those who are accustomed to a more open method of communication and thinking. However, it is precisely this authenticity that brings the story to life. Although the book may be more geared toward a male audience, I believe that anyone with an open mind will enjoy it.
Overall, "Man Mission" is an engaging, well-paced, and refreshing read. I give it 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to young adults and above, especially males, who will find it a hilarious, realistic, and heartwarming read.
