[Following is a volunteer review of "E M P Honeymoon" by Dorothy May Mercer.]
In the Central American country of Honduras, a nefarious plan was being hatched by a group of individuals led by Colonel Rhee Su-Jin and their commander, known as the "Dear Leader." Rather than targeting a major city with explosives, their intention was to launch a devastating assault on US satellites orbiting the Earth, resulting in a nationwide blackout. Little did they know that a recently married couple, Tom and Kelly, were spending their honeymoon in Honduras at the same time. While exploring the town, Kelly came across a shop that appeared to be abandoned, but she sensed something peculiar about it. Curiosity got the better of her, and she entered the empty shop only to discover a room filled with a complex system of screens and monitors. What she uncovered there would change everything.
The story in E M P Honeymoon is incredibly vivid and allows the reader to visualize the scenes in great detail. It sheds light on the potential ways that technology could be used to amplify terrorist attacks, and the writer provides a comprehensive explanation of the heinous tactics employed by the terrorists. The newlyweds, Kelly and Tom, are admirable for prioritizing the safety of their country even while on their honeymoon. Throughout the plot, the author, Dorothy May Mercer, keeps the reader engaged with action-packed scenes. The story also reveals the vulnerability of the human mind and how easily people can be manipulated into thinking that committing mass murder is justifiable. Furthermore, it highlights the psychological impact that such atrocities can have on decent individuals.
This story had a fascinating and well-constructed plot development that kept me engaged throughout. The unfolding events were thrilling and thought-provoking, showcasing the difficult task of tracking down terrorists. It's not something that can be accomplished easily, but the effective planning, teamwork, and research of Kelly, Tom, Cynthia, and her team of investigators made it possible. Their thorough background work allowed them to gain valuable insight into the insurgents' movements.
I was impressed with the author's ability to bring different settings to life through vivid descriptions. As the story progressed, I found myself constantly wondering about Colonel Rhee's role in the events until her unexpected appearance in Kelly's hotel. The book kept me engaged with its unpredictable twists and turns, and I appreciated the way it posed questions about what would happen next.
Finally, the inclusion of pictures added an extra layer of interest to the book, making it even more enjoyable to read. Overall, I found this story to be a well-written and captivating read that I would highly recommend.
There was nothing I disliked about this book. It was exceptionally edited. I would give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy books on terrorism and crimes.
