Bluewater Walkabout by Tina Dreffin is a fascinating memoir chronicling the author's family's adventurous sailing journey across the South Pacific. This book is a testament to the courage and determination of the Dreffin family, who set out on a two-year voyage with their children and experienced both the beauty and the challenges of life at sea.

The book begins with Tina Dreffin describing her decision to leave her comfortable life to embark on a sailing journey. Tina and her husband, Peter, had always dreamt of traveling the world by sea, and they finally decided to take the plunge with their two sons, Adam and Warren. The author does an excellent job of conveying the excitement and apprehension that the family felt as they set out on their adventure. As the family makes their way across the South Pacific, Tina describes the various challenges they faced, from storms and rough seas to mechanical breakdowns and health problems. Despite these obstacles, the family remained determined to continue their journey and explore new places. The author also provides vivid descriptions of the stunning landscapes and seascapes that the family encountered, painting a vivid picture of the natural beauty of the South Pacific. Do you want to know more from the author? Find out the rest of the story when you get a copy of this book.

One of the most compelling aspects of this book is the author's candid and honest portrayal of the challenges of living on a sailboat with her family. Tina does not shy away from describing the conflicts and disagreements that arose among family members, as well as the difficulties of homeschooling her children in such a unique and challenging environment. By sharing these personal struggles, the author provides a realistic and relatable portrayal of the joys and hardships of family life at sea. Another notable aspect of this book is the author's detailed exploration of the cultures and traditions of the various islands and communities that the family visited on their journey. Tina has a keen eye for detail and provides insightful observations about the customs, beliefs, and ways of life of the people they encounter. These descriptions add depth and richness to the book and make it clear that the family's journey was not just about adventure and exploration, but also about gaining a deeper understanding and respect for the world and its people.

This book is so enjoyable and engaging that I can't think of anything I don't like about it. Despite a few typos and some coarse language, I had a good time reading the book. However, the author's writing is interesting and approachable, giving the reader the impression that they are traveling alongside the family. I'll give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars for being professionally edited.

I would recommend "Bluewater Walkabout" to anyone who loves travel, adventure and family stories. Overall, the book is engaging and inspiring, thanks to the author's descriptive writing style and willingness to share both the joys and challenges of her family's journey. Whether you're an armchair traveler or a seasoned sailor, this captivating memoir will transport you to the exotic and beautiful world of the South Pacific, leaving you eager to embark on your own adventure.
