[Following is a volunteer review of "Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula" by R.F. Kristi.]
This book by R.F. Kristi is titled Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula. It is the eighth book in the The Inca Cat Detective Series. It is a brief but intriguing piece that tells a story of amazing pets and their relationships with their human families. The unique group of animal detectives visit places around the world and solve mysteries and puzzles. Inca is a very intelligent cat and also the head of the Inca detective agency. She is dedicated to helping others with her furry companions.
Missy is invited to be a judge at a patisserie competition in South Korea. She also intends to use the opportunity to present some special cheese she has created. However, the pets discover that a cunning chef is plotting to ruin the competition and steal Missy's cheese. If he succeeds, it would disrupt the current peace negotiations that are currently ongoing between the North and South Koreans. It could also bring an end to Missy's career as a chef. Will the detectives be able to end the evil scheme and help everyone, as they have many times before? Give this book a read to find out.
This book is characterized by many positive factors that make it a perfect fit for children. I believe they would find the storyline fascinating and learn valuable moral lessons from the characters. The book was exceptionally well edited, as I could not find any errors while reading. The author ensured that the length of the book was short and the plot was straightforward, which will maintain the attention of kids.
The grammar used was easy to understand because the book was written in very simple language with the target audience in mind. I was also able to learn a bit about Korean food and culture. The author obviously utilized some research and/or experience. The characters used in the book were well developed and added to the charm of the book. The suspense present in different parts of the book ensured that the story was fresh and engaging.
There was absolutely nothing negative about this book. I have decided to rate it 5 out of 5 stars. I found no reason to rate it any lower because I believe the author aimed to create a fictional piece that children could learn valuable lessons from, and it was a success. It will also serve as a way to curb animal cruelty, as the author intended.
I recommend this book to children, especially the ones who enjoy a fun and delightful mystery once in a while. Parents could also pick it up in their free time to relax.
