Jemima Paul and Arvind Paul are the authors of Snatched Up to Heaven! One day their 4-year-old daughter, Priyanka, told them that she was taken up to Heaven in a dream. Her younger sister, Deepika, said she was with her. Several more dreams and trips to Heaven follow. The authors tell readers that it is likely that the children were seeing visions because two people can’t experience the same dream at the same time. Due to their daughter’s young age, it is unlikely that she could make up all the details she describes in her dream. Their 137-page book gives details of what Priyanka saw in Heaven. Then they offer their interpretations. Some of the topics covered include: what heaven is like, meeting Jesus, who is in Heaven, what we will do in Heaven, rewards, weddings in Heaven, torment in Hell, concerns about celebrating Halloween, the age of accountability, and Jesus’s attitude towards those in Hell. Even if you feel a little doubtful about the subject matter, you will be captivated. The writing style is positive and the text is set out logically. Read the book to discover if there are animals in Heaven and whether we do any sort of work there.

I was impressed by the variety of topics in the book. They are all interesting and cover many of the questions people have about Heaven and what happens to us after we die. Readers can choose to read specific chapters only or the whole book at once. The dreams are backed up by relevant scriptures and verses from the Bible. I liked the fact that the authors are not sentimental about the topic. They analyze everything in a straightforward way. They present the facts and evidence and allow the conclusions to speak for themselves. The reader can form his/her own opinions by comparing the children’s memories of their dreams with the words in the Bible. This has more impact than trying to convince readers.

Another positive aspect is that the book provides a table comparing Heaven and Hell as described by the children. References to video recordings of the children’s experiences are also provided. Another thoughtful aspect of the book is the inclusion of 5 sweet illustrations drawn by the children. Overall, I found the book enjoyable, informative, and thought-provoking.

If I had to mention something I didn’t like about the book, it would be one of the words in the title. For me, the word “snatched’ has a negative connotation. At first glance, the title could make you think the children had died and gone to Heaven. It is not immediately clear that the book will discuss the dreams they had. Perhaps the words “taken up” could have been used instead.

The book seemed to be well-edited. I only spotted one error. I am happy to rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. It is well-written, tackles the topic well, is balanced with positive and negative information (Heaven and Hell), and is enjoyable to read. All of these points far outweigh my slightly negative feelings about the title.

I recommend the book to those who have an interest in spiritual or religious dreams, children’s perspectives on religious issues, and Christianity in general. All ages will enjoy this book.
