Review of E M P Honeymoon
Back in high school and for some of us during college, whenever the teacher or lecturer asked us if we understood what was just being taught, we'd scream “YES!” when we actually did not understand just to make the lecturer or teacher go, but there were some teachers who, no matter what, we grabbed something from their classes, and that's how Dr. Kinney's classes were in this book.
Kelly and Tom, newlyweds having their honeymoon at Barefoot Sands Resort and Spa, Shoreline Road, Honduras, and having the time of their lives, come across an uncertain event. How would this affect their honeymoon?
E M P Honeymoon is a sixteen-chapter novel with a prologue and an epilogue by Dorothy May Mercer. There are so many things I found attractive in this book that I feel this review won't be able to contain them all. The characters were the main reason why the book had such impeccable taste. I was most attracted to Kelly. Many girls are weak, and in situations of danger, they tend to give in to superior power and accept defeat, but that was not the case with Kelly. While on the honeymoon, Kelly went on a tour with some people, and she stopped by a shop to get something for her mother-in-law, Tom's mom. She then stumbles across a very suspicious activity at the shop, La Pocilga. On seeing this, the next natural thing to do was to escape, but a muscular man caught up to her and suppressed her. A normal lady was never meant to get out of that situation, but somehow, Kelly did not give up. She summoned up strength and escaped. I liked how brave she was in that situation.
Another character I was attracted to was the one and only Dr. Peter Kinney. He reminded me of those teachers we had our whole lives growing up, whose classes we thought we could be in all day and not be tired because of how they made the class so interesting and broke down difficult topics to our very best understanding. He was a tenured professor of nuclear physics at the State University of Utah and had received the Nobel Prize in Physics. His major problem was how we need to plan for severe and uncontrollable disasters by shifting all our hope onto our already-existential methods of survival and crisis solution.
I did not dislike anything about this book. I really liked how the author made sure the storyline was not interrupted by any unnecessary twists. I rate this book five out of five stars. Furthermore, I did not find any errors, which means the book was exceptionally well-edited. Furthermore, I recommend this book to readers who love crime and romance novels.
