[Following is a volunteer review of "The Bitter-Sweet Search for a Father" by Patrick A. Davy.]
Have you given up on the search for a close relative who left? Have you grown up knowing only one parent? How does it feel? The book The Bitter-Sweet Search for a Father by Patrick A. Davy is here to answer our questions. It is an interesting book. It explains how Pete had the urge to see his dad, who went away when he was young. He told his wife, Faith, that he wouldn't stop until he saw his father. He wants to give his sons the best life because he understands the feeling of growing up without a father.
I like the way the author brings out his characters. Pete is a very determined person and mentions that he won't give up until he meets his dad. Ella and Dale are, however, different. They were brought up by both parents, but their characters are not pleasing. Ella is always asking Dale if their father is dead whenever Dale goes to visit her at the hospital This is because all they were thinking of was their father's will. Dale is always on drug abuse. The author's writing style is top-notch. It draws a reader in. The book is organized in such a way that it flows from one story to another.
There is nothing to dislike in the book. There are a lot of lessons to learn. One should understand the value of a parent even when the parent is dead. The heart that Faith has is one to be embraced. She always supports her husband in every situation. The apologetic heart of Pete's dad is impressive. He apologizes to Pete and adds him to his will after leaving for a long time. It also teaches that every child deserves parental love and support from their fathers.
I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars because I found no grammatical errors or typos in it. It has been exceptionally well-edited. The author explains his struggles in the journey to look for his father. Pete's relatives from his father's side are quite resistant to giving information about his whereabouts, but this does not deter him from looking for him. A character to be upheld. His aunt Bertha also supports him in the search. When his mother Louise went to study in Britain, she also took on the responsibility of bringing Pete up.
I recommend this book to all those who were left behind by their relatives. They should not give up on their search. I also recommend it to anyone who lacks parental love and support. One needs not give up on their goals of daily life. There's a lot to learn from Pete's experience. It's captivating.
