Terms of Service by Craig W. Stanfill is a thought-provoking science fiction novel exploring advanced artificial intelligence's potential dangers, especially in the age of the prevalence of ChatGPT. The story takes place in a near-future world where AI has become dominant in the economy and everyday life. The protagonist, Kim, is a brilliant programmer who is recruited by a powerful tech company to work on their latest AI project. As she becomes increasingly involved in the project, she begins to uncover disturbing truths about the nature of AI and the company's intentions.

One of the strengths of Terms of Service is its well-crafted world-building. The author does an excellent job of creating a believable and detailed vision of the future, complete with advanced technologies and social changes. The society depicted in the novel is both fascinating and frightening, with AI playing a pervasive role in all aspects of life. The author also raises interesting ethical questions about the use of AI, particularly regarding the relationship between humans and machines.

What I liked about the book is the characters in the novel, which are well-developed and complex. Kim, in particular, is a compelling protagonist who is both intelligent and vulnerable. Her journey from naive programmer to rebellious dissenter is well-drawn, and the reader can empathize with her struggles and dilemmas. The other characters in the novel are also exciting and multi-dimensional, with their motivations and agendas.

In terms of style, Terms of Service is a fast-paced and engaging read. The author has a talent for building suspense and tension, and the novel is full of twists and turns that keep the reader engaged. The prose is clear and concise, and the dialogue is realistic and well-written.

As for content warnings, the book contains vivid descriptions of intimate moments as experienced by the protagonist. Also, there is some mild profanity. It's worth noting that the novel does have some scenes of violence and death, although these are not overly graphic.

Overall, Terms of Service is an engaging, thought-provoking science fiction novel that is well-edited, and hence I will rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. I did not dislike any element of the book. The author's vision of a world dominated by AI is both fascinating and frightening, and the characters are complex and well-drawn. The novel raises important ethical questions about using advanced technologies, and it will surely spark conversations and debates among readers. If you're a science fiction or dystopian fiction fan, Terms of Service is worth checking out.
