We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies begins in the war-torn Lands of Princes, where oppression is widespread, and people live in constant fear of death and follows the story of Galen Bray, a naive young man who got lucky when he discovers that an absent uncle has left him a fortune in his will. He promptly departs for Magnum Caelum, a city on the planet Voulhire where he intends to begin anew.

Meanwhile, King Wilhelm of Voulhire is doing his best to keep a terrible secret under wraps. Lord Meldorath, former general to the King and terrible mage, nearly destroyed Hillport with his evil actions. The King has him executed, and in his place comes Lord Alderman, a decent and upright individual who sets out to regain the respect of the populace and revitalize the city. Galen had no prior knowledge of the universes when he arrived in Voulhire. His natural curiosity will lead him to explore the local traditions and customs. He gradually gains knowledge of unusual materials and chemicals as he develops his skills as a blacksmith. Unfortunately, his naiveté and honesty make him an easy target for bullies, but his kindness and generosity pay off in the form of loyal and helpful friends and acquaintances. Over time, Galen will learn more and understand Voulhire from both perspectives. Have people's hopes for the city and its people revived? Reading the book will reveal all.

We are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies is a must-read for any fantasy reader. Matthew Tysz did a fantastic job creating a plausible world that teems with action and intrigue. This book has a lot of wonderful, uplifting, and inspiring aspects. The characters are fleshed out and have fascinating histories, preventing the book from being one-dimensional.

What I like about We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is how it focuses on the development of the plot. It's fantastic how every character plays a pivotal role in the story. The title We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies was just not selected by Mathew Tysz, it has significance to the plot.
