We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies is a book that tells the story of Voulhire, a powerful kingdom. This kingdom comprises wonderful places such as Virko, Gallador, Soulhire, Yamon Soul, Ballerhal, and Hillport. The book captures events happening around these places; however, it focuses more on the happenings in Hillport.

Hillport once had a powerful mage called Meldorath. The beginning of the book revealed that the king of Voulhire had recently removed him from being lord. He replaced him with Lord Eldus. The king removed Meldorath because he was experimenting with people and had become a terror to them.

I soon find in the book that though the king sacked and forbade him from the kingdom, the fear and havoc he had inflicted on the people remain. Therefore, although the king and the newly elected Lord assured the people that Meldorath was dead for good, the people find it difficult to believe. The question remains, "Is he dead?"

The book also talked about the life of Galen, who just lost his uncle. He had to leave his slum life behind in the Lands of the Princes to take over everything he inherited from his uncle in Magnum Caelum. He soon discovered that the lifestyle of Magnum Caelum was distinct from what he had been accustomed to in the Lands of the Princes. Was he able to cope and grow to love the place?

There are so many things that make me enjoy this book. One of them is the fact that Matthew Tysz, the author, took the time to list out the names of everyone involved in the book before the story began. Indeed, the book was talking about happenings in different places at the same time. However, the author ensured to put the person or people the chapter is talking about at the heading of each chapter.

I couldn't find any negative aspects of the book. It was well-written, and the author clarified several things from the beginning, such as explaining that the book is a series. Also, he added a glossary of terms, names, and concepts used in the book. What more? The author incorporated the map of the Voulhire; this helped me understand the book much more. The professional editing of this book ensured I didn't encounter any spelling or grammatical errors; therefore, I'm giving it a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.

Lovers of magic will enjoy this book a lot. Also, I'll recommend it to people who love to read books on politics, power, and kingdom affairs.
