Review of Unicorns Know Magic

[Following is a volunteer review of "Unicorns Know Magic" by Charles Adkins.]
The unicorns Abby, Georgia, Bitsy, and Chase just flew past two children, capturing their attention and initiating an instant friendship. Now fond of one another, the unicorns and the kids embark on some tours and engage in some get-togethers. During this time, the unicorns show several exceptional abilities, albeit with some shortcomings. What happens when the unicorns and the children must return to their different places of residence?
I rate Unicorns Know Magic by Charles T. Adkins five out of five stars because of the following reasons: First, this is a short children's story with an interesting storyline and a couple of moral lessons. The author delves into the subject of unicorns and, through simple, fun character interactions, lays down certain knowledge about unicorns. It is then left to the readers to believe or deny them.
Also, the characters were lively, and they got along as though they had known one another for years. It appeared the author wanted to push the idea that we are all united by a common thread, regardless of species, color, creed, or profession.
I liked that the children chose to be considerate and compassionate at a time when they could have acted otherwise. It was also great to see the unicorns make up for certain flaws and show their unique abilities at various events in the story.
Another interesting aspect is the gripping narration. Some of the stories were written in couplets, adding a sort of musical quality to the narrative flow. The language is simple as well. The illustrations perfectly depict the events in the story (great art from Ros Webb). The book was professionally edited. I saw just one grammar mistake in it.
So, I didn't dislike anything in this story, and there is no reason to rate it lower. I had a great moment reading this book. I expect that the children will enjoy it too. There are some empowering take-home moral lessons in this story.
