[Following is a volunteer review of "We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies" by Matthew Tysz.]
We Are Voulhire: A New Arrival Under Great Skies was written by Matthew Tysz, who was born and raised on Long Island. The opening few pages of this book tell the tale of an emperor and his wickedly inclined sons. Emperor Lullabies was the name of the ruler of this vast kingdom. We learn from this section of the book that the Emperor's sons were cunning and plotted to overthrow their wise but also evil father. Such an event wouldn't be permitted by the ruler. He made a decision and, inadvertently, sent his sons away.
We are informed that the word "Voulhire," as it appears in the book's title, refers to a place in the multiverse. It serves as the focal point of the story's setting. This book's first 20 pages introduce Galen, a boy who is predestined. He depicts the Lands of the Princes as a place where death and starvation are the two main causes of death, and he is on the run from them. In addition to requesting refuge, he intended to take over his uncle's forge in Magnum Caelum town.
The wording was clear, and the grammar was carefully picked, making this book entertaining and well-suited to all readers. I frequently had the impression that the characters in this book were speaking directly to me and telling me their experiences. In addition, I saw that the characters were fully developed throughout the narrative. The story was more endearing because of the turns it took. The story's setting was thoroughly researched, as seen by the book's detailed descriptions of several places.
In the first few pages, the names and brief descriptions of several of the story's characters are presented. This was a wise choice on the author's part because it makes the plot easier to understand. The opening section's map paints a good picture of the Voulhire Kingdom. Understanding the plot was made easier by the reference manual that was included at the end of the book. This novel was fascinating and had plenty of action, as was already noted.
This book is not long. It contains roughly 200 pages. The use of dialogue was the element of this novel that I liked the most. The experience of reading them was pleasant. Absolutely nothing about this fast-paced book turned me off. My favorite character was Galen. He was my favorite character because of his brains and tenacity. Orlin, the former lord of Hillport, was the character I liked the least. Because of his cowardice, Meldorath found it simpler to overthrow him.
I rated this book 5 out of 5 stars. The book's flawlessness helped to sustain this ranking. Professional editing was done on the book. The narrative was also entertaining and interesting. The cover has a cute design. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy fiction books. I can't wait to read another novel by this amazing author.
