Review of Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventures

10 year old Mary Grace and her brother are sent to reside with grandparents in California while their parents mission in Africa. Mary Grace is not pleased leaving her Friends in Kansas. She is also very protective of her younger brother Donny who has Down syndrome. Donny is happy to relocate and excited for new adventures. Both parents and grandparents are supporting and loving while both children deal with the move and ups and down that occur. Mary Grace bears some of the troubling issues for herself and Donny. She is able to ask for help and find clever as well as thoughtful solutions for all involved. Mary Grace’s California Adventure is exactly that. Author Catherine A. Pepe has written a wonderful feel good story despite some difficult topics such as bullying, separation, differences and change. The story is filled with love.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was exciting to learn what would transpire on the great adventure. I loved the multi generation involvement.
Pleasure to read this book. No errors or bad language. My rating is 4 out of 4 stars. This book made me smile. Rating 5 out of 5 stars as I will long remember this wonderful book.
