Don't Mind Me, I'm Just Having a Bad Life, a memoir by Lewis Kempfer, is a candid and unfiltered portrayal of the author's journey through life, from his tumultuous upbringing in a broken family to his struggles with accepting his sexuality in the community. The book is a mix of dark humor, shock, and sadness, with occasional glimpses of optimism and redemption. Kempfer chronicles his early memories of his abusive biological father, his initial sexual encounters, his abusive stepfather, and his mother's devotion to her new man.

The author's self-loathing and his perpetual quest for love and acceptance shape his life, relationships, and career. He becomes trapped in an endless cycle of abusive and domineering relationships, while also replicating his mother's desperation to please every partner for fear of being abandoned. Kempfer reflects on his encounters with God throughout the book and how his faith has transformed his life. Despite the traumatic experiences he has gone through, he manages to find humor in the chaos and leaves readers with a glimmer of hope.

The book's storyline and multi-dimensional themes were really enjoyable. I appreciated the author's concise writing style and imaginative storytelling. I commend the author's bravery in sharing their personal highs and lows and being transparent. The author's use of humor, even when discussing challenging topics, was what I liked the most. The book was deemed thrilling and suspenseful, with good structure. I was moved by the author's determination to pursue his dreams and find love despite adversity.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and found nothing to dislike about it. It was a captivating and well-written book that reminded me that we can overcome obstacles and challenges. The author was candid about his life experiences, including his flaws and mistakes in relationships, and the book flowed smoothly, making it easy to become immersed. Despite some explicit sex scenes, the book was a true masterpiece that showcased the author's effort and enthusiasm.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The book was professionally edited, and I could not find any errors while reading it. This book is a memoir that provides hope and inspiration for individuals undergoing tough situations. It narrates the author's challenges with mental health, addiction, and unsuccessful relationships and is appropriate for older teens and young adults. Although it has explicit content that may not be appropriate for everyone, it is recommended for those who prefer reading about real-life events with humor and optimism.
