Addressing Systemic Discrimination by Reframing the Problem by Dr. Frank L. Douglas is a non-fiction novel about the importance of employee engagement in organizations. Employee engagement consists of equity and inclusion among employees. Inclusion focuses on individuals and gears towards their meaningful participation. Equity works on the framework of signaling the individuals in an organization to feel valued. The two aspects are important in employees' lives because most people spend half their day doing work-related things. The interaction between equity and inclusion describes the cultures where individuals in an organization work. After he described the concept of employee engagement using equity and inclusion, he describes how the reframing process work. He gives the important steps and shows how it can solve systemic discrimination.

I liked the idea of describing the concept of equity using examples. The author used himself as an example when he described how a white female expressed her frustration with black men running when confronted by the police. He was one day assaulted by the police when he did nothing wrong because he was a black man. It shows a lack of equality between Blacks and Whites. I liked the use of tables to simplify the information for better understanding. For instance, the Inclusion Culture Matrix demonstrates the dynamics and impact of the interaction between equity and inclusion in an organization. It helps the readers understand how the two relate and their importance in employee engagement.

I have nothing against this book. The author was a victim of discrimination, so he used this book to address the issue of discrimination and help other discriminated people; hence, nothing to dislike.

I rate Addressing Systemic Discrimination by Reframing the Problem by Dr. Frank L. Douglas five out of five stars. The book was professionally edited because it had an error. Black people's discrimination has been a concern leading to loss of life. He addresses the issue to help end discrimination. He used examples of himself and other discriminated black people in an organization to show the seriousness of the issue. The table he used to show how they contribute to the organization's culture shows how important the matter is. With all these positive aspects, I think the book deserves a perfect rating.

I recommend this book to employees in an organization, more so the ones in management. The author talks about the issue of discrimination in a work environment; the people in management should design policies that address the issue and stop discrimination among employees.
