An eye-opening page turner that inspires all to enjoy "the pursuit of -er" (page 10). From the first page, readers are captivated with the idea that we are in a race toward unachievable perfection. Sounds crazy, right? But no, the freedom found in this notion is delightful. The theories on untapped potential shared in Always Strive to Be a Better You: How Ordinary People Can Live Extraordinary Lives by Pete Hall releases us from our own expectations while encouraging us to look beyond ourselves, live in the moment, and always strive for more.

Hall introduces readers to seven "extraordinarily ordinary" (page 17) individuals; the energetic fitness instructor, the philanthropic school administrator, the determined athlete, the self-driven superintendent, the selfless basketball coach, the loving father/triathlete, and the humble actor; each with an infectious drive to find success in his own way. We are led to examine ourselves on a deeper level, to think about self-image versus outside expectations, and to honestly dig into our "core" (page 38) of personal well-being. Through his research and the combined life experiences of these seven people, Hall leads us on our own journey of self-exploration.

The thing I like most about this book is how Hall guides readers with easy to follow step-by-step instructions. From looking at ourselves with renewed clarity, to finding a career that fuels our passions, and creating successful habits, he provides practical advice and activities to complete along the way. He even provides online templates to help readers set and achieve big goals.

This can be a difficult journey to embark upon. It is never easy to honestly examine oneself, yet always beneficial. This book does a fantastic job of directing readers to think positively and find the good side of even tricky situations. Hall lets us know that it is okay to be where (and who) you are, as long as you continue to grow and strive for more.

Always Strive to Be a Better You: How Ordinary People Can Live Extraordinary Lives has inspired me to go into the world and "be the spark" (page 177). For my family, friends, coworkers, and myself, I will go forward with energy and excitement, living in the moment, present in mind, body, and spirit.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. It is motivational and entertaining. I recommend it for adults of all ages. If you are a young adult, this book has great advice that can be applied to every corner of life, giving you a jump-start to success. If you are already in a place where you have found success, it will motivate you and encourage you to continue to seize life and find joy in every moment. Either way, you will find yourself transformed by the practical guidance Hall provides.
